About the project
The Plantiful is a plant e-commerce store for people who love to buy with convenience. It provides an experience that would narrow the gap between shopping in-store and online by helping them visualize the plants better and select the perfect plant for their home.
Challenge
Plant shoppers have trouble buying plants online because they want to see the actual plant's size, packaging, and health before buying. Through user interviews, participants want to be able to choose the plant they want just like they would in a store, but most online plant shops only show sample images.

Homepage collections
Showing product collections/categories on the homepage helps users quickly understand what The Plantiful offers and easily browse products that interest them.

Product cards

The product cards are designed for easy browsing and adding items to your cart with a quick view pop-up to see more pictures and options.
Product page
The product page is the most important part of the design because it lets users:
— See detailed images of the plants for each variety with dimensions
— Choose plant variety that are available on-hand

Key learnings
— Designing an online plant shop was challenging to narrow the gap between the online and in-store experience when shopping for plants. However, I learned that designing a feature where customers can choose the plant variety they want is only suitable for small and medium businesses (SMBs) because most retail plant stores in the Philippines buy plants in batches and sell them online or in-stores.
— The key point to help manage the expectations of users is to put a disclaimer in the product descriptions informing customers that the photos are the actual images of the plants as reference but looks may still vary as time passes by.
